{DIY} Remove foreign object from your toddler's nose

Interesting night last night.

Little Sister had stayed home from school yesterday with a decent sized fever and body aches. However, she started to bounce back just a little before I picked her up from her Nana's house. So from then on out she was a little feisty — and after a rainy day of not getting to go outside and run, Big easily went right along with her. ( To be honest, Big wasn't being so calm & obedient to begin with.)

We finally had them ready to get into bed but as we started to corral them in that direction, Little started talking about something in her nose while making an attempt to dig something out.

!!!!!!!??

It immediately didn't seem the the average, run-of-the-mill booger that was being referred to. And though I still have no idea how she had the time to make the insertion as I had been holding her moments before, I knew right away that she had stuck a bead from a recently broken bracelet up her nose.

After confirming that there was indeed a bead up her nose via some strategic flashlight work, it was deemed necessary to take her to the ER.

And there I learned a little trick that those of you with young kids may find useful some day. That's right:

It's Waffle Day!

Friday evening, Big excitedly declared that tomorrow was Waffle Day!! Her teacher, Miss Jenny said so.
(. . .thanks Miss Jenny. . . kidding)

Since I LOVE waffles and we didn't have any plans for the day, I readily agreed with her. Who am I to denounce Waffle Day, after all??

In honor of this most illustrious of breakfast foods and because I love you all so much, I thought I'd share with you my all-time favorite waffle recipe, just in case you needed one. :)

So head on over to the new site to check it out!

{DIY} Camera Strap Cover

As is the case with most of you I assume, I LOVE to take pictures. However, the plain black camera strap that came with my camera really doesn't suit my personal style.

There are some really great camera strap covers out there, such as Shey B, but while I wish I was since I fully believe in supporting small businesses, and especially believe in supporting handmade, I'm just not in a place where I can spend money on things like that.

So, I decided to make my own.
If you find yourself in a similar boat, or just prefer to do things yourself, follow along by heading over to my new blog!

** It was brought to my attention that the link for feed subscriptions was messed up, but I think it's fixed now, so if you were having trouble before, you should be good to go now if you try it again!

Things Big Sister says:

Last week at the Halloween block party, the "big" & "little" kids took turns in the bounce house.

CRW_2452

Until the end.

Then they sort of kicked each other out by invading and yelling in unison, "BIG KIDS OUT! BIG KIDS OUT!"

CRW_2437

However, once successful in usurping the bounce house from the big kids, the "little" kids decided they needed to get rid of the even littler kids as well.

This is how it played out according to Nate (who was ready to jump in, if needed):

The kids in the bounce house realized that all the big kids were gone and apparently were still enjoying their chant session, so they turned on the even younger kids by starting in on " LITTLE KIDS OUT! LITTLE KIDS OUT!"

Big, of course joined in with gusto while looking around to see who the little kids were that needed to get out.

But the only kid younger than them, was Little Sis.

Trick or Treat ( a some news!)

Well, I might have screwed up royally the day before, but Halloween was a hit.

The family was invited to spend the day with Big's best friend who started attending a new school this fall. So it was an extra special treat.

Their neighborhood really does Halloween right!!

Festivities start around 1 with games & a bounce house for the kids and lots of food and treats for all.

Once it starts to get dark, all the families meet back up in costume and load onto a hay wagon. The hayride carts the kiddos (with all the parents following in mass) to the bottom of each cul-de-sac, the kids dis-embark, scatter and basically overrun the neighboring front porches in their frantic quest for candy.

They then re-converge at the top of the cul-de-sac, ride to the next one and repeat.

It was a lot of fun. :)

Big scored major points as the only non- princess/fairy/ballerina.

It was the most perfect costume for her.
She was ridiculously cute.

Little on the other hand won points for have the biggest tutu amongst the princess/fairy/ballerina crowd.

In other news. . . I may have been a bit quiet around here this last week, but not for lack of working on something for you!

I now have an official website!!!

Don't worry, all the content you love from this blog (and even your comments!) has all been imported onto the new site. You won't miss a thing. It will however allow me to create a much more versatile site moving forward.

So, go check it out here!!
AND make sure to update your feeds and/or links!

I will try to post on both sites for a little while and give you ample reminders — don't want to loose anyone in the move — but eventually, loridanelle.com will be the only site that I will continue to update.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!!

Serious Mom FAIL.

Saturday was supposed to be day two of our fun-filled Halloween weekend.

Only I screwed up.

Big Time.

One of Big Sister's classmate's was having a birthday party today at a bounce house gym. I seriously LOVE them. Probably almost as much as the girls do. Completely looking forward to it.

We left the house a little before 11:30 (our goal was 11:30. Score for us!!) because we still needed to buy a gift & have lunch. We ate at Chick-fil-A — I also LOVE that place. Can you get fast food that less processed and has such amazing service???? Then we ran to Target and Big picked out a gift. We got to the site of the party a few minutes before 1.

EARLY FOR ONCE!!!
I have to admit, I was feeling very proud of myself & oh-so-put-together.
I even remembered AND had the little waver form filled out already.

I told the lady at the desk we were there for the Avery birthday party.
She had no idea what I was talking about.

I pulled out my invitation.

The party was at 10 am.
NOT 1 pm.

OMG!!!!!!

For a moment, please put yourself in my shoes.
I was incredibly disappointed that we missed the party and incredibly disappointed in myself.
AND I had to explain to a 2 & 3 year old that the party at the bounce house that we'd been talking about for 3 weeks. . .well, we missed it.
And it was all my fault.
PLUS, we were AT the bounce house.
And we had to leave because they're booked with birthday parties on the weekends. So I couldn't even make it up to them and just go play.

I really don't think it gets much worse than that.
